Hi Light Painting friends,
The meeting yesterday was very productive. We had a realy creative brainstorming and could set up the main storyline. To get a better overview about what needs to be bought or borrowed please tell us what materials you have at home (camera and lense, any kind of light: torches, bike lights, sparklers, whatever!!!). we might also need some soldering machine for some easy electrical connections and a car for that night! all extra supporters get some gift!
The storyline and what else might be needed can be found at http://umbfotoklubb.com/2011/10/18/light-painting-meeting-3/. Feel free and check it out.
The next meeting is important and will be on Thursday 27th of October (7.30 pm). On this meeting we will talk about the material and financial ressources we have got. Talk about the storyline and work out more details for it. Then we decide what we want to paint, so we know what devices we need. According to that each member will get one, max. two specific figure or techniques. These ones need to be trained, if not, the figures would appear crapy on the photos and so on the video. But do not be scared about it!I am also no master in it, but keeping it easy, exploring your own “way” to do it and constant training for max. 15 to 30 minutes a day will be enough and work out fine. So the next meeting will be more important than the first two, please let us know which of these two dates are better suiting to you. Please keep also in mind that the more people we are, the more stressless will the project to be realised.
May the light be with you!
Storyline:
Scene 1 (S1): “Forest”
- Human (doll) walks through the forest and takes photos, sees some abstract light between the trees (laying or “flying” around with beating behaviour)
- Doll touches it and wonders about it.
- Some reaction of the light and doll learns that light is nothing “bad”, but creative, fast changing, always nice in some certain kind of view according to the way how to “see” and “use” it → 360° motion
- Doll takes it/follows it, light shows how nice things can be
- Both start way back to campus
Scene 2 (S2): “Green houses”
- Green houses in the back of the UMB campus
- Doll walks through glass houses, light shows up and lights up the houses, (photography play around)
- Doll walks down to the “campus lake” and around flowers grow out of the ground, happiness, butterflies, next to the path
Scene 3 (S3): “Campus lake”
- Doll arrives at the little lake on the campus and watches mirror effects of the water, already learnt to change the point of view for taking “good” photos
- “nökken” appears out of the water and scares the doll (nökken is a monster from the Norwegian fairy tails)
- Doll is afraid and raises hands and light protects the doll, surrounds the lake, shows up in a big way and scares the “nökken”, so “nökken” disappears (maybe painting a “tackymask” )
- Doll is happy about big fellow “light” and both explore more the campus
Scene 4 (S4): “Big tree”
- The big tree close to the “lake” will be lighted up
- Maybe doll behaves reverently in front of big tree (light installations in/on the tree)
(increasing show up)
Scene 5 (S5): “UMB main building”
- Doll and light play around, more emotions/bigger paintings
- Orbs and burning steel wool and mirror effects in little water pond in front of main building
- Doll is happy about new fellow “light”, 360° motion
- Some message comes up: ideas end with the same result “… come to UMB Photoclub”
- Seek your fears/ take on your fears …
- Affected by light? Learn how to use it! …
- Its nothing scary about light …
(Message could appear in light painting letters)
